How Pristine Landscaping turned $2.5K into $250K+ in one month

“We had solid reviews and a good crew but weren’t showing up at the top of Google. 5for5 handled everything. Thirty days later the phone was ringing with direct calls from homeowners.”

Owner, Pristine Landscaping, Medina, Ohio. Said on camera in the interview below.

We sat down with the owner of Pristine Landscaping in Medina, Ohio to talk through what life looked like before LSAs, what the first month felt like when the phone started ringing, and what they would tell other contractors still on Angi. Unedited. Real numbers.

Where we start, and why in that order.

Most agencies hand you a menu and let you pick. This is the order we actually work in, and each step makes the next one cheaper.

First, get the phone ringing

Local Services Ads go first because you pay per qualified call rather than per click, so real work starts arriving in weeks rather than quarters. Cash flow before compounding. Google Ads and Meta layer on once we know which jobs are worth chasing.

  • Google Local Services Ads
  • Google Ads (PPC)
  • Meta Ads

Then make those ads cheaper

Reviews and listings are not a separate reputation exercise sitting next to your advertising. Your review score and how quickly you respond are inputs to where your Local Services Ads rank. Fixing them lifts the performance of everything in step one, and wins you the searches you are not paying for.

  • Reviews and reputation management
  • Local SEO and listings

Then own the ground you stand on

A website you own, built to convert the leads the first two steps produce, and structured to hold up in Google and in AI answers. Slowest of the three to pay off and the longest to keep paying.

  • Website design and landing pages

Tracking and reporting runs across all three, so you can always see which calls came from where and what each one cost.

Who you are working with

We left the platforms so we could take one side.

Working inside Google and Meta means sitting between two things that do not always point the same way: whatever the platform is pushing this quarter, and what is genuinely best for the advertiser paying for it. Most of the time those line up. When they do not, you are the one holding both.

We started 5for5 so we would only ever be holding one. Nobody here has a target to hit on somebody else’s product. If the honest answer is that you should spend less this month, switch a job type off, or not run Meta at all, we can just say it.

The rest is simpler. Local Services Ads, Google Business Profile, reviews, Meta: these are all learnable, and most owners running a good business do not have the time or the patience to learn them in the way that would actually serve them. We already did. That is the whole trade.

Every account is handled directly by the two of us. No junior staff, no outsourcing. Alice runs the day to day, and most of the social and creative and reputation work is hers. Ken builds and scales the technical side: websites, SEO audits, the tooling, and partnerships.

We did not buy that audience and we did not run ads at it. The organic side of what we sell is something we have had to do for ourselves first, on our own accounts, in public, where it either works or it visibly does not.

The process

How we get your phone ringing in 30 days.

01

Check Your Area

On Local Services Ads we take one business per trade per market. First step is confirming your trade is still open in your area and that your Google profile qualifies.

02

Setup & Verification

We handle the full LSA setup and Google background check. No hold music with Google support. We know the system from the inside.

03

Go Live at the Top

Your business appears in the Google Verified carousel above every competitor running regular ads. Homeowners see you first and call directly.

04

Pay Per Real Call

You pay Google only when a qualified homeowner calls. Not per click, not per impression. Per real phone call from someone ready to hire.

Local Services Ads · one per trade, per market

Is your market still open?

On Local Services Ads we take a single business per trade in each market. Running two roofers in one town would mean bidding our own clients against each other and driving both their costs up, so once a trade is claimed there, that spot is closed.

Reputation management, websites and SEO have no such limit. Ask about those whenever you like. It is the ad slot that runs out.

What contractors always ask before signing up.

How is this different from Angi or HomeAdvisor?

Angi sells the same lead to four or five contractors at once. You race to call back the same homeowner and lose most of the time. With LSAs, a homeowner searches Google, sees your name at the top with the Google Verified badge, and calls you directly. Nobody else got that call. You pay only when it rings.

How long until my phone starts ringing?

Most clients start getting calls within 30 days. Google's verification takes time and we handle all of it. You do not sit on hold with Google support. We know the system from building it on the inside at Google.

What does a call actually cost?

Typically $20 to $80 depending on your trade. A roofer paying $60 for a call that turns into a $10,000 job does not lose sleep over that number. We track your real cost per booked job every month so you always know your return.

Am I locked into a contract?

No. Month to month. Cancel anytime. We would rather earn your business every month than lock you into paperwork.

What trades do you work with?

Home service contractors (roofers, landscapers, HVAC, plumbers, concrete, excavating, tree services), general contractors, home and commercial construction companies, real estate agents, and restaurants. If Google offers LSAs for your category, we can get you to the top of that carousel. If they do not, we build a Google Ads and Meta strategy that achieves the same result.

Do I need a lot of reviews to qualify?

You need a Google Business Profile with some reviews. We assess your profile on the discovery call and tell you exactly where you stand. If your review count needs work first, we have a system for that too.
